We do not pause your project
A project that pauses when nobody is looking is a demo, not a deployment. Staying running is a small, cheap, deliberate choice.
There is a special kind of disappointment reserved for opening a side project you were proud of and finding the backend paused, the API returning errors, and a "click to resume" button where your app used to be.
That is exactly the moment your hobby project, your demo link, or your interview take-home stops working: when someone finally looks at it.
Running is the default
Scribase free projects stay running. That is the whole feature. No pause, no cold-start penalty on the link you shared, no resume dance.
It is cheap to promise because the backend is efficient enough to afford idle projects, and it is worth promising because "your free project is still running" is the kind of small, emotionally-loaded reliability that people remember when they choose where to put the project that does make money.
Some features are architecture. This one is just respect for the person who shipped something and walked away for a week.
